The Commissioner of Taxation has issued a Gazette Notice advising that the ATO will be matching ATO records with International Movement Records to better enforce taxation and superannuation obligations.

This data matching regime with be in force for the 2023/2024 and 2024/2025 and 2025/2026 financial records.

This will allow the ATO to identify those who are Australian residents for the purpose of taxation by analysing data and time spent in Australia annually.

If this raises concern we would advise that you speak to your accountant or tax advisor accordingly.
